Efficient use of Water resources

GEESYS promotes the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) across the supply chain in accordance with its Basic Environmental Protection Policy and Environmental Vision 2050 in order to contribute to the realization of a recycling-oriented society. As part of these activities, we seek to make efficient use of water resources while complying with wastewater requirements.

To address the global issue of water resource depletion, we aim to reduce water consumption by strengthening efforts to use water more effectively while complying fully with existing wastewater standards. We have set targets for reducing water consumption per unit of sales and pursued activities in fiscal 2019 to meet those targets. In the year under review, our water consumption increased 1.8% year-on-year due to the impact of investments to increase production in our electronic devices business, which uses large amounts of water for production.

We are also focusing on water recycling as a way to use water more effectively. In fiscal 2019, we recycled 2,665 thousand tons of water, up 42% from the previous year. At the Factory, for example, we are taking measures to address filter membrane blockage in order to increase our water recycling volume.
