How to Select the Right Solar DCDB for Your Solar Plant
A solar DC distribution board protects and isolates the DC circuits between PV strings and inverter inputs. Selection starts with the array configuration and inverter limits, rather than plant kilowatts alone.
Check voltage and current
Calculate the maximum string open-circuit voltage at the lowest expected module temperature using the module temperature coefficient. The enclosure equipment, isolators, fuses and surge protection must suit this DC voltage. Use module short-circuit current, parallel strings and applicable design factors to establish circuit ratings.
Match the string arrangement
Document strings per MPPT and whether circuits remain separate or are combined. Combining incompatible strings or MPPT inputs can reduce output or exceed inverter input limits. Check reverse-current exposure and the module maximum series fuse rating before selecting string fuses.
Specify protection and enclosure
Specify DC-rated switching, coordinated surge protection, earthing terminals, suitable cable glands and an enclosure suited to UV, rain, dust and temperature. Confirm thermal performance and access for maintenance.
Information to send with an enquiry
Provide module and inverter datasheets, string layout, minimum site temperature, cable sizes, installation location and the single-line diagram. Request an approved schematic and component ratings before ordering.
