Electrical Panels
AMF Panel: Working Principle and Applications
An automatic mains failure panel supervises the utility supply and coordinates generator starting and load transfer when the mains fails.
Typical operating sequence
After a validated mains failure and configured delay, the controller starts the generator. When generator voltage and frequency are acceptable, the transfer system connects the load. On stable mains restoration, it transfers back and runs the generator through its configured cool-down sequence.
Transfer and protection
The source-switching arrangement needs electrical and mechanical interlocking as appropriate. Ordinary open-transition systems prevent simultaneous source connection. Any intentional parallel operation requires a specifically engineered system.
Where it is used
AMF systems support factories, hospitals, commercial buildings and other sites with standby generation. Specify load duty, source ratings, neutral switching, generator interface, delays, alarms and manual operation. Transfer includes an interruption unless the overall system provides continuity.
