Electrical Panels
Electrical Panel Maintenance Checklist for Industries
A documented maintenance plan helps identify deterioration before it causes downtime. Base intervals on manufacturer instructions, site conditions, loading and previous findings.
Plan and isolate
Assign qualified personnel, review diagrams and follow the site isolation and lockout procedure. Identify every source, including generator, UPS and backfeed. Prove absence of voltage with a suitable verified instrument and follow capacitor discharge instructions before touching equipment.
Inspect and service
Check for moisture, dust, corrosion, damaged insulation, discolouration and loose or degraded terminations. Clean using approved methods, inspect ventilation and service devices to manufacturer instructions. Tighten only to specified torque; indiscriminate tightening can damage connections.
Verify operation
During an approved outage, perform appropriate protective-device and interlock checks, earth-continuity checks and suitable insulation tests with sensitive electronics handled according to instructions. Energized thermal inspections require a separately planned, authorized procedure and suitable controls.
Keep a maintenance record
Record date, asset, observations, readings, defects, corrective actions and responsible person. Review loading, recurring hot spots, spare parts and the next service interval before returning the equipment to normal operation.
